Plan Now for a Sensational Summer with a New Inground Pool

Taking a look at the calendar makes us realize it’s Groundhog’s Day. But you know what? Whether Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow or not doesn’t matter. Spring is just around the corner, which means pool installation can start soon.

The process of swimming pool installation can take a lot longer than you think. A lot of planning on your part and our part is required. Keep reading to learn about some of the considerations.

Location, Location, Location

The first thing to decide is where you want to locate your inground pool in the backyard. If you have a large property, consider how close you want the pool to the house. It’s convenient to be able to just walk outside and be poolside within a few steps.

If you have a smaller yard, the placement of your pool won’t take as much thought. Keep in mind that trees may need to be cleared to make way for your inground pool. You may also need grading and retaining walls if you have a sloped yard.

Fiberglass vs Concrete Pool

The space you have available for an inground pool, your budget, and your personal preferences are all factors to consider when choosing between a fiberglass pool and a concrete (gunite) pool. We would suggest doing a little reading to help you decide which type of pool you should get.

How Much Does an Inground Pool Cost?

Pool Financing

We have yet to meet a client who pays for their inground pool installation in cash. A pool project often entails more than just the pool – it can include several other things, including:

  • Installation of pool decking
  • Pool landscaping
  • Patio installation
  • And more

Once you’ve decided on the scope of your project, you must determine how you are going to finance it. We offer pool financing through two major lenders. But you are under no obligation to obtain financing with one of our partners.

Choose a Pool Builder

Once you’ve decided what type of inground pool you want, you can start looking for a pool builder to complete the job. Ask friends and neighbors who installed their pools. Were they happy with the contractor? Ask if there is anyone you should stay away from.

Do your homework. Any reputable pool builder will have a website that details what they do and how they do it. Read through the pages and determine if they seem like a good fit. Do they install the type of pool you want? Do they have good reviews? Set up consultations with more than one company.

Make sure to ask the same questions of each company so that you can compare their quotes side by side. This will make it easier to choose who to hire. And be advised that once you hire someone, it may take weeks before the ground is broken.

This is due to how busy the contractor is, the design process, permitting process, and HOA approval, among other factors.
