Why a Beach Entry Pool Is a Great Idea Now and In the Future

If you’re planning on installing an inground pool, you may want to consider a beach entry pool. They’re becoming more popular in the luxury pool market and are an option for fiberglass and concrete pools.

What Is a Beach Entry Pool?

A beach entry pool, also known as a zero-entry pool, is an inground pool where the shallow end has a gradual downward slope where you can walk into the pool just like you walk into the water at the beach, rather than walking down the stairs or jumping in.

Here are 3 of the big reasons this pool design is so popular:

1. A Beach Entry Pool Is Kid-Friendly

If they’re like most kids, your little ones play at the edge of the water at the beach. They’re not quite ready to go all the way into the water. A beach entry allows small children to do just that. You can set up a lounger right next to them, just like at the beach. For kids who are still learning how to swim, walking into the pool is less scary than jumping in.

2. A Beach Entry Pool Is Mobility-Friendly

You and everyone in your family may be healthy and athletic now, but that might not always be the case. Having a beach entry will allow any member of your family to use the family pool for aqua therapy, which is frequently prescribed for ankle or knee injuries.

A beach entry is also easier to navigate than stairs for people with balance issues, which can happen as you age. If your parents regularly join you at the pool, or if you plan to be in your home for the foreseeable future, building your new pool with a beach entry makes a lot of sense.

3. A Beach Entry Pool Is Pet Friendly

Lastly, if you have a dog who likes to swim in the pool with you or one who might accidentally fall in, these pools make it easy for your canine companions to get out of the pool. While dogs can easily jump into the pool, getting out can be more complicated.

Reasons Why a Beach Entry Pool Might Not Be for You

Despite the positives of a beach entry, there are some negatives: size and cost.

Size:

Beach entry pools take up more space. They’re longer and may not be suitable for smaller yards.

Cost:

Fiberglass and concrete beach entry pools can be more expensive than a pool with entry stairs. You’ll have to decide if the benefits outweigh the increased cost.
