Inground Pool Trends for 2024

In the pool industry, the big trade shows are held during the off-season – November through February. It’s at these gatherings that we learn of new products, new techniques, and new trends. For example, at last month’s International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo in Las Vegas, industry leaders and top manufacturers from around the country and the world gathered to showcase their latest innovations.

These top trends for 2024 were a hot topic.

Trend #1: Salt Water Pools

One of the biggest trends in inground pools for the last few years is the switch to salt water pools. And the trend shows no sign of slowing down in 2024. A salt water pool is gentler on the skin, hair, and sense of smell than a traditional chlorine pool. And with a salt water pool, homeowners never need to worry about a shortage of pool chemicals.

Trend #2: Pool Automation

Pool automation also continues to be a growing trend. Pool automation makes pool and spa ownership easy, and gives you the ability to monitor and control things from your phone, whether you’re home or away. Some of the options include:

  • Pump and Heater Controls
  • Pool Chemical Control
  • Pool Lights Automation
  • Automated Pool Cleaning

Whether you want to get the spa jets going right before you get home, put on a light show for a pool party, or make pool maintenance a breeze, pool automation is the way to go.

Trend #3: Energy Efficiency

A luxury pool doesn’t have to be an energy hog. As more and more homeowners are looking to decrease their carbon footprint, they’re seeking energy-efficient options for their inground pool. These can be included in a new inground pool installation, but may also be implemented during pool renovations.

Your pool design team can discuss the pros and cons of each of these options with you.

Trend #4: Automated Pool Covers

Automated pool covers are another growing trend that combines energy efficiency with pool automation. Gone are the days when you have to lug a pool cover out of storage every fall or before you go on an extended vacation.

An automated pool cover makes protecting your pool a breeze. It can also act as a solar pool cover to heat your pool. There are models that can be installed during pool installation but also added to an existing pool deck.
