How Long Does It Take to Install an Inground Pool?
One of the most frequently asked questions for any pool builder is “how long does it take to install an inground pool?” And the answer, as with so many things, is it depends. There are numerous factors that affect your inground pool installation, including:
- The type of pool – fiberglass or concrete
- The size and depth of the pool
- The complexity of installation
- Ground conditions
- Weather conditions
- The permitting and HOA process
- Supply chain issues
Taking all of those factors into account, the best we can do for the purposes of this blog is to give ballpark figures. To get a specific answer for your property and your pool, contact us directly for a consultation.
Concrete Pool Installation
When you hire Woodfield to design and complete your custom concrete pool installation, you need to plan for the process to take 6-10 weeks*. This includes the design phase, excavation, and building the pool by hand. With a concrete/gunite pool, we have to build the supporting structure, spray the shotcrete, finish the pool interior, install pool decking, and more, depending on your project.
Adding a rock waterfall and pool landscaping can add on to the total time needed to create your pool paradise.

Fiberglass Pool Installation
In general, fiberglass pool installation takes a lot less time than it takes to install a concrete pool. That’s because the fiberglass shell is manufactured, and delivered to the job site in one big piece. You should plan on installation taking about two weeks, possibly less if everything goes like clockwork.*
This includes getting the permits, excavation, the actual pool installation, and cleanup. You should know that we install San Juan fiberglass pools – the best in the industry. Additional features can increase the overall installation time.
