Inspiration in Action: Custom Lagoon Pool Design

After years of designing and installing pools for homeowners in Maryland, at Woodfield we have learned that there are as many ways to design an inground pool as there are ways to enjoy them.  While some homeowners are seeking a spa-like environment, this family was seeking a more natural lagoon swimming pool design that would integrate into the landscape of their outdoor living space.

NATURALLY INSPIRED POOL DESIGN OVERVIEW

We included a shallow end to keep young children safe and allow for a more gradual, natural entry into the lagoon-style pool.  Designed to the homeowner’s specifications this will be a favorite spot for young children to cool off.  This project also includes some fantastic special features, designed carefully to complement the natural feel of the swimming pool.  A stunning boulder staircase wraps along the pool’s contour leading up to a 17-foot pool slide and waterfall.  Our projects are designed with the homeowner and their families in mind and allow for a high level of personalization and customized solutions that combine both design and use goals.

POOL DESIGN AND INSTALLATION PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS AND MATERIALS

One of our favorite features of this project is the 17-foot water slide which our designers integrated into the naturally-inspired poolscape.  The SR Smith BigRide Pool Slide offers big fun and looks great.  Woodfield designers were able to blend it fantastically into the natural landscape and the water slide offers a super long, extra deep runway and cascades of rushing water. This provides a thrilling and comfortable ride for swimmers of all ages without compromising safety.

SELECTING PENTAIR POOL PRODUCTS FOR EFFICIENCY AND CONVENIENCE

Less glamorous, but critical to the homeowner’s enjoyment of their pool, was the selection of a Pentair IntelliChlor system, which uses table salt to provide all the chlorine the pool requires without having to store, measure (or swim in!) harsh chemicals.

Woodfield has been installing and maintaining swimming pools in Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Cecil, Harford, Howard counties and the state of Delaware for a quarter of a century, and in that time we have come to love working with Pentair products thanks to their dependability, efficiency, and ease of use for homeowners.At our recommendation this project includes an Energy-Star rated IntelliFlo VSF pump for this swimming pool.  This pump offers precise flow control; this means a more efficient swimming pool pump that will save on energy costs and works beautifully with the special features of this lagoon-style pool, ensuring that the waterfall and pool slide operate consistently.

Our Woodfield Crew also installed the Pentair Easy Touch Control System, which means the homeowner can easily control water temperature, pool lighting, chemical levels and more either from an easy to use touch panel.   The Pentair ScreenLogic2 interface even makes it possible to monitor and adjust your backyard pool’s settings from your desktop, laptop, or mobile device.

POOL DESIGN DETAILS TO COMPLETE THE SPACE

This backyard lagoon also features bluestone coping around the curved edges of the pool.  Bluestone offers lots of flexibility in design thanks to natural variations in color and shape, resulting in a one-of-a-kind installation.  In addition, this natural material is durable and requires only minimal upkeep.

With the integration of landscape design and plants selected to enhance the lagoon-inspired swimming pool that will thrive in the Chesapeake Bay Area, we have created a natural feeling outdoor living space that will give these homeowners the feeling of stepping into a secluded woodland pond when they walk into their backyard.
